Mindfulness, Now and Zen: The sceptics guide to Ultimate Reality is a book that explores the essential nature of reality. Drawing on ideas from a range of ancient and modern religious, philosophical and scientific traditions, it offers some novel thoughts to unite these apparently conflicting teachings.
The book looks at the way each of us makes sense of the world, breaking things down into tiny parts - those things we call thoughts, feelings, actions and events. As well as this we tend to see these parts of the world in terms of their relationship to other parts - as up or down, black or white, in or out - that is, we think dualistically. The result is that the world as we know it is entirely false - exactly the illusion that both Hinduism and Buddhism have long made claim to.
